After two weeks full of teasers and calls for excitement from Japanese automaker Toyota, the all-new 2014 Corolla sedan was officially unveiled in California.
In desperate need of a makeover when compared to its C-segment rivals, the Toyota Corolla finally gained a much-deserved upgrade that’s said to keep the sedan on its best-selling career path.

Now sporting a 3.93 inches (100 mm) longer wheelbase and a 182.6 inches (4,650 mm) overall length, the Corolla offers a more spacious cabin and a more expressive exterior designed. While it inherits only few details from the Furia concept by which it was previewed, the new sedan still packs some of the “Iconic Dynamism” cues promised by the Japanese. As expected, the Corolla also reveals a continuation of the styling seen in the new Camry and Avalon models.

Inside, the new dashboard looks far more premium than before, with new selected materials and attention to detail. Under the bonnet, the new Corolla is available with two 1.8-liter four-cylinder engines: the 132 HP and 128 lb-ft of torque version for the LE and S models, and the 140 HP and 126 lb-ft of torque on the Eco variants. The sedan also comes with a totally new seven-speed CVT (CVTi-S), that adds to the familiar six-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmissions.

There’s no word on pricing yet, but be sure to stick around for additional info. Also, don’t forget to check out our Toyota Blog for extensive coverage on the all-new 2014 Corolla. Meanwhile, scroll below to have a look at the company’s full press release.
