The roads are sprinkled with danger now. Be if a car braking hard in front of your, children running across the street or small poles that cannot be seen from behind the wheel, danger lurks at every ten meters.
Luckily, the available Advanced Pre-Collision System (A-PCS) on the 2014 Lexus LS flagship sedan is designed to detect obstacles, warn you and even bring the car to a full stop in an emergency.
The A-PCS system combines information from millimeter wave radar, near infrared projectors and a stereo camera to help sense a wide range of obstacles even at night.
If the system detects that a collision may take place, it will warn the driver visually and acoustically. Then it will prepare the vehicle’s brakes, suspension and steering to be as responsive as possible. If the driver takes no measures and the vehicle travels at a lower speed than 24 mph (38.6 km/h), the vehicle will apply the brakes and come to a stop.
