2014 Hyundai Genesis Concept Design Explained

At the 2013 North American International Auto Show, Hyundai showed us the very first glimpse into the future. No longer content with being just another carmaker, the Korean company has luxury ambitions and the first step taken on that road is going to be the new Genesis.
The concept revealed in Detroit was called HCD-14. Hyundai Concept D-segment for 2014? Most likely. How very German of them. But from what we understand, the next Genesis is actually designed and engineered in Germany, so no surprise there.

We weren't exactly blown away with HCD-14, but thankfully a company representative went over the design for us so we understand it a little better now. And yes, it's starting to grow on us.

The Genesis Concept is a bit like a diamond tipped silver pen. The lines are straight and uninterrupted, creating the impression of a thin, long car like they used to be before health and safety started being a factor and bonnet spacings had to be introduced. At both ends, the car is bejeweled with headlights and taillights that mimic the cut of a diamond.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
