Looking basically the same as the 2012 model, the 2013 Sonata Hybrid was unveiled by Hyundai USA.
The model features a more powerful electric motor and slight revisions t the battery. The Sonata now comes with a 47-hp electric motor and a 10.5 kW Hybrid Starter Generator. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder gaser has also been slightly revised to make it more economical.
Hyundai has improved its battery technology since the Sonata Hybrid came out, and the 2013 model is fitted with a lighter, better lithium polymer battery pack which stores more energy. Thanks to this, trunk space has increased by about 40 liters or 1.4 cubic feet.
The result of all these changes show in reduced fuel consumption: 36 mpg city / 40 mpg highway / 38 mpg combined, representing improvements of 2 mpg city / 1 mpg highway / 2 mpg combined respectively.
