2012 Toyota Camry to Arrive in Showrooms This Month

Toyota recently announced that it will give us the 2012 model year incarnation of the Camry ahead of schedule. The new generation of the vehicle will hit showroom floors in mid-September, as Insideline reports.

The 2012 Camry was supposed to go on sale in early October, but it seems that the 2011 Camry managed to convince enough customers in order to allow for a quicker entrance of its successor.

To be more precise, Toyota managed to sell 30,185 units of the 2011 Camry last month (the figure also includes the Hybrid model), while in the same month of last year the company sold 30,764 units of the car.

In case you were wondering, the new Camry comes to the world via the automotive producer’s Kentucky plant, which is located in Georgetown.

We’ll remind you that you can choose between three powertrains, two gasoline ones and a hybrid. At the entry-level end of the range we find a 2.5-liter four-pot that produces 178 hp and a peak torque of 170 lb-ft, which is followed by a 3.5-liter V6 unit, which produces 268 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque, while the hybrid version uses a fresh 2.5-liter four-cylinder mill.

Customers will be able to choose between four equipment levels for the 2012 Camry and Camry Hybrid: the entry-level L, value-driven LE, premium XLE and sporty SE. In addition to that, the color range includes four new coats, two of which (Attitude Black Metallic and Clearwater Blue) have never been offered in the US before.
