2012 Porsche 911 7-Speed Manual Detailed

We’ve all heard about the new seven-speed manual gearbox that’s been introduced with the 2012 Porsche 911. But now, the sportscar specialists have released this little video detailing their engineering achievements (ZF’s actually) and the benefits that an extra cog that you can gram at will bring.
The video is a bit dry, a bit German, but it does highlight the fact that the first six gears are there four your driving pleasure, with the seventh and final one adding extra fuel economy for that long highway cruise. Basically, it’s like the over drive you got on older cars, and it’s also similar to the way the optional PDK box is stacked.

An added benefit besides having better economy is the fact that lower revs translate into better comfort on long journeys, so this longer wheelbase 911 promises to the best GT it can be.
