Next year’s IndyCar Series will not return to Las Vegas, with the decision coming after the fatal accident of Dan Wheldon that took place on the track earlier this year.
The 2012 calendar has not been released yet, so we don’t know what tracks the series will use next year. Returning to the aforementioned decision, we’ll remind you that the Las Vegas Motor Speedway hadn’t hosted this type of racing since 2005, when it was used for the Champ Car series.

This year, Indy 500 winner Dan Wheldon was killed in a monster crash that took place on the track, with the accident involving no less than 15 cars. Officials are evaluating various possibilities of making racing safer at the track, but, for now, it’s off IndyCar’s schedule.
