2012 Hyundai Genesis Priced from $34,200

Summer is just around the corner and for automobile manufacturers that can only mean one thing: the new models of their vehicles will start selling, just before the auto plants will enter their summer break.

Stealing the start, South Korean manufacturer Hyundai is among the first to make a move and announced on Wednesday the pricing of the 2012 interpretation of the Genesis sedan. This year the revised model will sell from $34,200 (for the Genesis 3.8 version) and will bring with it a series of slight improvements.

Big changes to the face or performance of the model haven't been made, but this doesn't mean the version hasn't been tweaked a bit to give the impression of new. Hyundai will offer the Genesis with three engine choices, a 4.8l GDI V6, a 4.6l V8 ($44,500) and a 5.0l V8 ($46,500), all available with a new eight-speed automatic transmission (the first offered by a non-luxury branded manufacturer).

At the exterior, the model received a more aggressive front fascia with larger intake openings, LED accents on the headlights and daytime running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, redesigned taillights and new dual asymmetrical exhaust tips.

The 2012 Genesis received a new entry to the range as well, the 5.0 R-Spec model, which comes with unique 19-inch machined-finish alloy wheels, optional Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position summer performance tires, and sport-tuned transmission, suspension and steering calibrations.

Two packages will be offered to go with the model, a Premium and a Technology one. The former consists of rearview camera, DVD navigation system with seven-inch touchscreen, XM NavTraffic, and 18-inch Hyper Silver split-spoke alloy wheels, while the latter Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), thin-film-transistor LCD gauge cluster readout and heated rear seats.
