2012 BMW M5 Official Photos Leaked, Will Have 560 HP

Nowadays, it seems that photos and info on an upcoming car always find their way onto the internet before the manufacturer intends to. This was indeed the case with the all-important, highly-anticipated and awe-inspiring new BMW M5, as a set of photos has fallen through the cracks and into our hands, thanks to the efforts of German publication Auto Zeitung.

Bless its baby blue eyes, the new M5 is actually good looking and is significantly more refined in appearance than the outgoing model. Just like the old one, everything oozes power and strength, but all the refined 5-Series genes are in place as well, so the whole package looks like a bodybuilder dressed in an expensive Armani suite. There’s also some bold jewelry involved, as the 2012 BMW M5 sports big 20-inch wheels with Z-rated tires.

We’ve gone on and on about the twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 that replaced the old naturally aspirated V10, but we’ve never been able to tell you the exact output. Now we can, as the output has been revealed to be 560 HP at 6,000 rpm and 501 lb-ft or 680 Nm of torque. This not only makes it more powerful than the old 507 HP M5, but the performance is also available lower down in the rev range.

The new F10 M5 will run to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.4 seconds. To reach 124 mph (200 km/h), the new M5 needs about 13 seconds. The electronic nanny will stop you from going over 155 mph (250 km/h), but the M-Drivers-Package brings the top speed to 189 mph (305km/h).

The cost (probably including European VAT) is rumored to be around €100,000 or about $144,000, though the US price will surely not be that high.
