The recently revealed BMW 6 Series Convertible, which has had its public debut at the recent NAIAS event in Detroit, is set to go on sale in the UK on March 26, the German automaker announced today. BMW has also revealed the price tag for the British market, with the 640i SE starting from GBP65,680 OTR and the 650i SE starting from GBP73,430 OTR.

The new BMW 6 Series Convertible now comes with an enhanced specification as standard including an eight-speed Sport Automatic Transmission, Dakota leather upholstery with SunReflective Technology, electric seat adjustment with memory function, BMW Professional Multimedia Navigation System and LED front foglights.

The model will come in two engine variants, namely a 3.0l unit developing 320 hp which propels the car from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in 5.7 seconds (640i), and a 4.4l variant that delivers 400 hp and is capable of a 0-62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) time of 4.9 seconds (650i).

The British division of BMW also revealed it has added a new 318i variant to the 3 Series Coupe range, available in both SE and M Sport trim from GBP26,995 OTR.

Coming as an entry-level choice, the 318i is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 143hp, which allows the vehicle to sprint from zero to 62mph in 9.1 seconds. The 318i emits 146g/km CO2 and returns 44.8 mpg on the combined UK cycle.

The new BMW 318i Coupe qualifies for VED band F, which is of GBP125 a year. It will also further appeal to company car drivers with just 19 percent BIK while its sub-160g/km CO2 means that it attracts a 20 percent write down allowance.
