The Chevrolet Corvette belonging to the 2011 and 2012 model years is now the subject of a recall, due to an issue with the rear hatch. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there’s a risk that the rear hatch could detach from the car, increasing the risk of an injury.
The rear hinges may not meet the load requirements specified in federal safety standards, which means that dealers will replace the hinges, with the operations being performed free of cost.
The recall affects the hard-top models built between January 24, 2011 and September 1, 2011, with the number of US cars totaling 5,755 units. If you own one of these cars, you can contact the NHTSA at at 1-888-327-4236 (the campaign uses the 11V491000 number) or Chevrolet, at 11-800-630-2438.
