2010 Toyota Auris Details

Japanese carmaker Toyota will update the Auris for model year 2010 and will roll out a number of enhancements, including exterior and interior changes. In the UK, the new Auris will come equipped with a new grille and bumpers, carsuk.net wrote today. Furthermore, the headlights and the taillights are slightly different as compared to the current model. The bonnet will be also a bit different, the source added.

New alloy wheels will be offered as well, but it's still unclear whether Toyota will offer them as standard equipment or only as an option.

Inside, the Auris comes with new color options, different materials and a few equipment upgrades on the top versions. The 1.8-liter powerplant is upgraded with variable valve timing while CVT versions will boast paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

Toyota is also working on a hybrid version of the Auris that is prepared to be released in the United Kingdom in 2010. The Japanese manufacturer might receive money from the British government to build the Auris hybrid in local plants but an official announcement is expected by the end of the year.

Obviously, there are no details on a hybrid version of the Auris, but sources are claiming that it might rely on the same technology as the Prius. However, it will be offered with a lower price tag, in a broader attempt of the Japanese carmaker to challenge other cheaper hybrids available now or to be released in the next year.

Toyota will begin testing the first Auris hybrids in the UK in 2010.
