2010 Corvette Grand Sport Priced at $55,720

For automotive enthusiasts who care less about how GM is doing in bankruptcy and more about the car manufacturing aspect of their business, news of a new addition to the Corvette range is a breath of fresh air.

GM has released pricing for both versions of the 2010 Corvette Grand Sport. The Coupe version starts at $55,720, while the Grand Sport convertible has a starting price of $59,530. For both versions a destination freight charge of $950 is included.

Both models make use of a 6.2l engine which develops 430 horsepower and 424 lb.-ft (575 Nm) of torque. An optional two-mode exhaust system raises the overall performance bar to up to 436 horsepower and 428 lb.-ft (580 Nm) of torque.

"The Corvette Grand Sport achieves a 0 - 60 time in less than four seconds, pulls 1.0g on the skid pad and still boasts an impressive 26 highway mpg. These numbers are unmatched by any of Corvette's competitors," Karen Rafferty, Chevrolet product marketing director said.

The announcement of the pricing for the 2010 Corvette Grand Sport was made at the Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association, where GM also celebrated the 1,500,000th Corvette rolling off the assembly line.

"The 1.5 millionth Corvette is a great example of how Chevy is America's Brand. For nearly 60 years we have built America's Sports Car and this milestone is a solid proof point," Rafferty added.

The anniversary car, which rolled out on May 28, is a white convertible 3LT with red interior and black top, similar to the first, 500,000th and 1 millionth Corvettes built in 1953, 1977 and 1992 respectively.
