2010 British GP Tickets Selling Fast

Late last year, after the British Grand Prix was finally rescued and confirmed at Silverstone for the upcoming 17 years of Formula One, some feared the 2010 race would not be as watched as the 2009 edition, because of the event's clash with the FIFA World Cup final, scheduled for the same exact date.

With England having a top-class manager in the person of Fabio Capello and as they've qualified for the World Cup tournament from top spot in their group, one could think that they might actually make it to the final this year. But that's unlikely to affect the diehard racing fans in the UK, as Richard Phillips, Silverstone's managing director, confirmed that the tickets for the 2010 British GP are selling like hot cakes.

British Grand Prix tickets have been selling well over the last few months,” said Phillips, while admitting that certain areas of the circuit's grandstands are less attractive for the fans than in previous years. “We still have a long way to go to sell-out in all areas.”

Fans have made the most of our early booking offers and the 'General Admission' tickets are always among the first to sell-out. Whilst they don't offer access to grandstands, fans enjoy being able to watch the action from different locations, on raised banks around the circuit."

These tickets are extremely popular, and have sold out even faster than in previous years,” added Phillips.

Scheduled for July 11, this year's British Grand Prix will feature a different layout (Arena), modified by the British Racing Drivers Club (owners of the track) in order to accommodate 3 additional grandstands in the inner part of the circuit. This would create 20,000 more seats for the spectators.

However, in recent weeks, BRDC president Damon Hill admitted he is not at all enthused with the new layout, as it is “destroying the essence of what brought fans to formula one in the first place.” The changes were probably agreed upon as part of Silverstone's new deal with Bernie Ecclestone's FOM.
