The short-lived Chevrolet Citation was introduced in 1979 as a successor to the Nova, albeit its legacy doesn't even come close to the one of its predecessor.
However, few people remember that the Citation was an instant hit. It launched in 1980 and immediately became the best-selling car in the United States, with the parent company selling over 810,000 units in the first year alone.

It was the Citation's all-time high, as sales gradually declined in the next few years, down to a level that gave Chevrolet no option but to kill off the model. It eventually happened in 1985, when the Citation lineup no longer included a two-door version and focused mostly on the X-11.

The Citation in these photos is one of the X-11 examples that rolled off the assembly lines in 1985, so it's safe to say that it's one of the last Citations ever built.

The car landed on eBay as a project, as it requires a complete restoration after sitting for over two decades in the same spot. Seller millevoi explains that this Citation was parked in a driveway in 2001, and it's been sitting there until recently when the vehicle was pulled and posted online.

We don't get many specifics about the car, but the shared photos indicate this Citation is not as rough as you'd expect a vehicle sleeping under the clear sky for 23 years to be. The metal does exhibit some issues, but it's far from becoming a rust bucket. You'll probably need a complete inspection to get a clearer picture of everything on this Chevrolet, and I think putting it on a lift and inspecting the undersides is critical.

The engine under the hood is paired with an automatic transmission, but this is the only thing we get mechanical-wise. The seller reveals that the engine was still running in 2001 when the car was parked in the driveway, but its current condition is unknown. A good mechanic should be able to decipher more information with a quick inspection, so if you want the car, open the hood and let a professional look inside.

The vehicle looks complete, and considering it's not very rough, restoring it to a daily driver condition is doable and possibly an easy project (albeit it all depends on what you'll find when you check out the car in person).

This Chevrolet will sell for iPhone money, as the top offer today doesn't even reach $1,000. The owner posted the car on eBay with a no-reserve auction, meaning whoever sends the top bid will take it home. The highest offer after 22 bids is $960, with one day remaining until the digital fight ends. The car is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
