Long before the Silverado 2500 entered the scene, three-quarter-ton Chevrolet pickup trucks came in the guise of the C20 and K20. Currently listed on Bring a Trailer with a high bid of $12,000 and four days left to go, this magnificent C20 Longhorn features a four-wheel-drive conversion and an LS-based, 5.3-liter Vortec V8 instead of the original powerplant.
Chassis number CE248S183376 is showing just under 1,500 miles (2,414 kilometers) at the present moment, which represents the mileage driven since the refurbishment. Sourced from a 2003 model year GMC Sierra and augmented by a cone-type K&N air filter, the motor is spinning the rear or all four wheels through a Turbo-Hydramatic 350. As you can tell from the underside photos, the tranny is joined by a two-speed transfer case.

The extended-bed workhorse is wearing Anniversary Gold paint since 2010, complemented by full-length side moldings, Longhorn badges over the rear corner markers, chrome on the exhaust tips, and a receiver hitch. Six-lug wheels with bolt-on center caps and chromed rings, cherry wood slats for the Fleetside bed, and a roll-up tonneau cover also need to be mentioned.

Spruced up with power steering and front disc brakes, the old-school pickup rides on leaf springs at both ends. Even though the leaves are showing a hint of corrosion, they’re good enough for many years of trouble-free driving. Trimmed in two-tone cloth and split by a plastic center console, the later-model bucket seats contrast nicely with the body-color dashboard.

From the driver’s point of view, highlights include the column shifter, JVC aftermarket CD player, Sunpro auxiliary gauges, and Vintage Air climate control. Creature comforts also include power locks and remote start.

The steering column is said to have been rebuilt in preparation for the sale, and even though it’s far from a time capsule, this 1968 model year C20 will definitely turn heads. Thanks to the modern powerplant with fuel injection rather than carbs, you can also expect the truck to be reliable as well.
