The 2017 Commando 961 SF was built after the successful launch of the sport. It has upside down forks and radial brake callipers with a carbon fibre front, mud guard, rear number plate hanger and chain gaurd.

The engine produces a maximum peak output power of 80.00 HP (58.4 kW) @ 6500 RPM and a maximum torque of 90.00 Nm (8.2 kgf-m or 59.0 ft.lbs) @ 5200 RPM.

The 850cc MK3 Commando was launched in March 1975. For the first time, it was fitted with an electric starter. At that time there were only two Norton models on the road, the "Mk.3 Interstate" and the "Roadster".
