In September 2022, a significant motorcycle manufacturer, Honda, to be more exact, announced the introduction of their first electric scooter designed for European customers. Honda planned to release 10 or more electric scooters worldwide by 2025.

The EM 1e, Electric Moped for short, is aimed at young riders searching for an easy, fun, and emission-free urban transportation device with a compact style, flat-floored, and smooth styling that makes the difference within Honda's range.

The 2024 EM1 e packs up-to-date modern technology, such as a digital instrument cluster, high-quality switch gear, a long floor area, a storage compartment under the seat, a USB charging socket, passenger footpegs, and a side stand.

Also, the scooter is available in three color schemes: Pearl Sunbeam White, Digital Silver Metallic, and Matte Ballistic Black Metallic.

It packs a 50V Honda Mobile Power Pack e, with a swappable lithium-ion battery pack, claimed by Honda to offer over 2,500 charging cycles. It comes with a 270W air-cooled charger for domestic use and charges the battery from 25 percent to 75 percent in 160 minutes.

An in-wheel three-phase brushless motor sucks the juice out from the battery while it is rated at 0.58 kW and delivers 1,7 kW at its peak. Also, in ECON mode, the 2024 Honda EM1 e has its output set to 0.86 kW, with a top speed of 45 kph (28 mph) and a range of approximately 48 km.
