The 1992 MY Gilera Freestyle 125 has, at its heart, a liquid-cooled, two-stroke, 124cc, single cylinder powerplant that was mated to a six-speed manual transmission with a chain final drive, and can produce a claimed 29 horsepower and 20 Nm of torque.

In addition, this entry-level machine has been fitted with a 40mm upside-down telescopic front fork, a vertical monoshock as a rear suspension, front and rear disc brakes, a single seat, an under-seat exhaust system, die-cast aluminium wheels, wide handlebars, analogue instrumentation dials and an engine mudguard.
