The Yamaha MT-09 or FZ-09 as it is sold in the US came to change the game. Not only because it brought a breath of fresh sporty air to the naked bikes segment, but because it delivered top performance for less-than-premium money.
With a price tag reading $7,990 (€5,835) and packing 847cc of all-new triple-cylinder fun, the MT-09 also pushed design one step further, using the Crossplane Crankshaft for a more linear torque deployment.
And with looks to complement the nifty tech specs sheet, this machine was destined to become a hit. The engine also offers two additional riding modes, which provide both sharper and milder response than the Standard setting, being able to accommodate a wide variety of riders and riding styles.
