There’s a new and improved version of Audi’s smallest offering on the way, and speculation as to what the output will be has been rampant, though most agree it will be over 200 hp. When the 2011 S1 is unveiled at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, potential customers will also be greeted by a range of cosmetic changes befitting the Ingolstadt carmaker’s sporty line. However, if more power and a body kit is what you are looking for, then why not go to the tuning world for help?

Somebody at the German tuning firm Senner’s headquarters must really like the diminutive A1, because they’ve played with the formula once again to produce something with even more kick. They started work with the 1.4-liter TFSI petrol-burner, which is born into this world producing 122 hp.

The usual sport exhaust plus engine remap has increased the output to 165 hp. In addition, that steel exhaust system in the right/left version looks the part and sound the business.

The physical appearance has been modified with the addition of a KW adjustable lowering suspension kit. That retro-looking brown metallic hue contrasts well with the white of the mirrors, roof arches and side sills, while the factory fitted rims have been swapped for a set of massive Barracuda Tzunamee 19-inch alloys shod in beefy 225/35 R19 tires.

More subtle changes that might escape the first glance include a re-sprayed grille done in glossy black finish along with a new front apron. The side skirts house an no-so-discrete fake air vent, while the rear bumper that has a diffuser that’s been retrofitted.

Senner Tuning will sell the whole package, including the car, parts and labor, for €36,590 (about $52,300 at the current exchange rate).
