Rumor: Audi R8 Electric in Frankfurt
Audi, of course, keeps a tight lid on the subject, so there are no actual details regarding the R8 EV. It is also unclear whether the alternative R8 expected to be shown in Frankfurt will either be or go into production any time soon as an all-electric vehicle or a hybrid version.
And that's not all from Audi. The company's floor space at the event is said to witness, in all, no less than four different new vehicles. Alongside the electric R8, Audi is said to display its long awaited R8 Spyder.
The Spyder will be powered with either a 4.2l V8, developing some 420 hp or with a 5.2l V10, putting out no less than 525 hp, worldcarfans.com reported.
The Frankfurt event will also represent the perfect opportunity for the debut of the redesigned Audi A8 and the new Audi A5 Sportback. There is still plenty of time until the event in September, so new details regarding the Audi show of strength are likely to emerge until then. What's left to do by that time is to remember that the R8 is already on the roll.
Over the weekend, the LMS version debuted at the Nurburgring 24 Hour race and managed to get out of it with flying colors. The R8 LMS won its first victory in its class and managed to finish second overall.
