Electric cars are rapidly becoming cool and fashionable, even among exotic car drivers. There’s even talk of a Formula E single seater series that should be ready in a couple of years.
If you want electric performance, there’s the Fisker Karma, the Tesla Model S, the Audi R8 e-tron and some others from lesser known makers. However, there’s only one car that can really be called ‘super’, and that’s the 750 PS Mercedes SLS AMG Electric Drive.
It’s coming in 2013, packing a massive combined output that’s the highest of any AMG model ever built as well as a four-wheel drive system. The price is also quite serious €416,000 (at today’s exchange rate$536,200).
The car was revealed at the Paris Motor Show last week, but this is the very first driving footage of this machine. Though we can’t hear it running, it’s quite exciting to see how the AWD system copes with the track.
We’ve seen 700+ horsepower Mercs before, but this is probably the first one that can actually cope with the power. Though the 1,000 Nm of torque should be enough to spin all four wheels.
