With competitors launching a torrent of new and upgraded city vehicles, Hyundai has decided to give its best-selling citycar a makeover. We now have a full set of photos of the UK (right-hand-drive) version of the car to show you.

The biggest change on the new i10 is the 1.0 Kappa engine with Variable Valve Timing, or VTVT. This engine technology, last seen on the Hyundai Verna engine, is claimed to deliver higher power and torque. The mill replaces the old 1.1-litre ‘Epsilon’ unit and is a cutting-edge three-cylinder model, boasting improved efficiency and reduced emissions.

In order to make the most of the efficient new engine, Hyundai has introduced the i10 Blue. This special ‘eco’ edition of the i10 emits an astonishingly low 99g/km CO2, thus gaining exemption from VED and the London Congestion Charge.  It is currently the only five-seater car on the market to achieve this for under £10,000 (about $16,000), and is also the first of a bigger Blue model lineup that will underline Hyundai’s commitment to environmental technology. Hyundai's first Blue model is scheduled go on sale beginning on March 1st.

Styling-wise, the Korean car utilizes the new “fluid sculpture” design language and gains in personality, thanks to the revised front bumper with a hexagonal grille, refreshed headlights and foglights and integrated indicators in the side mirrors. The rear lights have also been changed, while the car now sits on 13 or 14-inch alloy wheels. Changes to the interior, though not as extensive as the exterior, include a new instrument cluster.
