After a Hyundai customer reported that his ear was sliced due to the deployment of a side airbag that propelled a headliner support bracket towards his head, the automaker is recalling 186,254 Elantra models made between 2011 and 2013 to fix the problem.
It appears that the headliner support bracket may become displaced during a side curtain airbag deployment and by flying across the cabin it could cause a laceration injury to the nearest occupant.

Hyundai will notify owners of such affected vehicles, the remedies being ready to be applied probably in May this year. The solution will be that Hyundai dealerships will apply adhesive strips to the headliner, free of charge

Owners can contact Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151 for other details, the recall campaign number being 109.
