Nearly 300 motorcycle riders in Contamana, Peru, have gathered in the dead of the night to provide lighting on an airstrip in their secluded village in the rainforest, and thus help a plane take off after responding to an emergency call.
Help was summoned for a mother and her newborn baby, together with another young person, as they were in dire need of urgent medical attention. However, the airstrip in Contamana is not lit during the night, so the local motorcycle and rickshaw riders gathered alongside the tarmac and lighted the track so that the pilot could land and then take off.
