Taking advantage of the ESPN X Games 16 event being held this weekend in Los Angeles, the guys from Codemasters released the first images of the third installment of the DIRT franchise. Additionally, the first trailer for the game will be released during the X Games, while more information is expected to surface on Monday.
Codemasters is beginning the DIRT 3 campaign on social media websites as well, having already set up a Facebook and a Twitter page. With some from the gaming industry who already played it saying the game will blow everybody away, expectations keep running high. We'll have to wait until Monday though to get a closer look into the game.
“You’ll get the full dirt in a week’s time, in the meantime here’s your first glimpse at a still image taken from the DiRT 3 reveal trailer video. If you’re watching the X Games on ESPN this weekend, you may just catch a clip from the trailer in action!” the company says on the Facebook page.”
DIRT 3 has been confirmed ever since March 2010, when Codemasters Studios vice president Gavin Cheshire said his company is working on a sequel for Colin McRae - Dirt 2. At that time, Cheshire hinted to a more European approach for DIRT 3, given its predecessor's American feel.
“It’s about the culture we’ve created and making the best games you can. Dirt 2: brilliant game but it’s all American accents, so maybe we’re a little over the top with those. Maybe we should fly the flag a bit more,” Cheshire said in an interview with Edge back in March.
