Seatbelts came about in the early 50 and since then has saved millions of lives. They're standard features on every vehicle sold across the world and some automakers even offer ones that inflate, like an airbag. And yet there are countless drivers who still refuse to strap in, risking serious injury or death in case of a crash. Some claim it's not comfortable, others that they forget.
Knowing most of those careless drivers are men, a Romanian campaign hopes sexy women will convince everybody to buckle up, not because it's safer, but because it's cool. The star of the show is an advertisement clip backed by the Romanian Auto Club and by some sexy, well endowed local celebrity. Why well endowed? You can probably guess already.
Under the hashtag #seatbeltb00bing (that's with zeros instead of o, so it's totally not about female body parts), women are invited to post Facebook and Instagram photos while wearing seatbelts… the sexy way.
"So far, fines and << Put your seatbelt! >> signs went unnoticed, but your photos can change that. You only need to do one wearing a seatbelt and post on Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag #seatbeltb00bing (with two zeros). So let's make wearing seatbelts a trend and not only convince men to wear a seatbelt," the Seatbeltb00bing's Facebook page states.
Research shows your chances of surviving a collision are five times better if, upon impact, you are not thrown from the vehicle. Seatbelts are also very easy to take off after a crash and substantially reduce the chances of serious injury. And yet 6 out 10 drivers worldwide don't buckle up, mostly men though.
No wonder three times more men than women lose their lives in crashes, according to Romanian statistics.
