The organizers of the Shanghai Auto Show 2015 surprised everyone when they announced the venue they are overlooking would have no female models on the floor. The decision came after government officials warned about the increasing vulgarity of such venues. OK, we can understand that but what did the children do wrong?
According to the same organizers, kids will also be banished from the venue, their access being forbidden. Yet again, the officials are offering a rather stupid justification for this decision: ‘security reasons’.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t find kids too dangerous in the first place but the measure might be in place exactly to protect them. Recently, at one of the smaller auto shows held in China, one toddler was hurt by a visitor that somehow took a car for a spin.

I doubt it that such a scenario could happen in Shanghai though, as it is expected to be on par with the European and American versions from all points of view. However, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

That means that there won’t be any smiling faces at this year’s venue, and we won’t be hearing children laughter on the show’s floor. The organizers did say that women will be allowed but just not showgirls. Therefore, if you’re dressed in a business suit and you’re a woman representing a car brand, you can attend the venue.

The Shanghai Auto Show 2015 will kick off on April 20 and will take place until April 29. We will be covering it live so make sure to stick around to catch all the world debuts first.
