A report from GM Inside News suggests top Cadillac dealers from across the US have recently been shown the brand new ATS Coupe before everybody else gets to see it.
Heavily camouflaged versions of the car have already begun testing near Detroit, and the two-door ATS will become available in mid-2014 as a a2015 model year car, about two years after the sedan.

This is uncharted territory for Cadillac, as the company tries to establish itself as a global luxury brand. the ATS Coupe will have a tough job taking on the new BMW 4 Series and Mercedes C-Class, but will most likely come with its own blend of attractive features that will at least interest Chinese and American buyers.

Style-wise, Cadillac designers are not taking the same risks they did with the CTS Coupe. Those people who have seen the car say the compact coupe is going to be more down to earth in order, hopefully appealing to a lot of customers.

In order to preserve the car's prestige, Cadillac will likely only offer the CTS couple with the more upmarket engines, the 2.0-liter turbo and the 3.6-liter V6. The V-Series performance model will likely follow in a few years. In addition to that, the ATS will gain a diesel engine for the European market.
