With every change in the weather outside, carmakers come up with a new lifestyle collection. Just in time for the dull, rainy autumn, the Germans figured a partnership with renown luxury accessories manufacturer Montblanc should bring back that shiny smile fans of the company have been sharing all summer long.
Rouge et Noir was the first up-market pen Montblanc produced back in 1909, although it was one year later when the Hamburg-based factory would create the second model that was to give the company its new name. Several stages would find the firm producing a significant range of writing utensils, including lower price pens. Dunhill bought the business in 1977, following which cheaper products were dropped, and the brand was used on a broad range of luxury goods.

Other than its white stylized six-pointed star with rounded edges trademark, there’s not much left to connect the current products to the three founders - Claus-Joannes Voss, Alfred Nehemias and August Eberstein. Nowadays, perhaps you recall of that advertorial starring Hugh Jackman. It so happens that the Wolverine actor was announced as MontBlanc’s Global Brand Ambassador, outside of the US, last year.

Partnering up with a grand automaker like BMW, now that sure means they are serious. The Montblanc for BMW Special Edition comprises of Montblanc products for on the road and in the office, selected exclusively for BMW. We’re looking at select leather creations and writing instruments while all the items in the collection boast subtle BMW 7 Series-style engraving and discreet “Montblanc for BMW” signature.

As of next spring, the exclusive series will be part of the BMW Lifestyle Collection and available worldwide in selected BMW and Montblanc stores and boutiques. This partnership may be the first of its kind in both companies’ history, but we’re probably going to see further similar gigs happening in the future so you’d better get used to it.
