The current BMW 5 Series GT is up for mild facelift this year, turning 4 years old in 2013. BMW will definitely try to refresh it and encourage people to buy it with more confidence since numbers haven't been good so far.
Carbuyer took the current version out for a test to see where the LCI version might make some improvements. The engine range is not great when it comest to petrol units. It's recommendable to go for diesel burners as they will get much better mpg numbers.

The interior space is vast and almost as big as in a 7 Series. Rear seats offer a lot of leg and head room whilst the fronts seats do exactly the same. The finish is premium as it's the case with every car from BMW.

The boot is a bit small and not extremely practical, even though the tailgate open in two different ways. However, once the seats are folder you get a lot of room for even the most pretentious tastes.

BMW is currently trying to attract more people to this new segment, by using the recent 3 Series GT as a benchmark. The 5er GT was here way before the 3er though, and it should be changed, a lot, during the facelift, if the Germans really want this car to be successful.
