AC Cars Cobra MkVI on Display in Monaco

AC Cars' latest creation, the so-called Cobra MkVI, will be officially unveiled at the Top Marques car show in Monaco on April 16. The car will be manufactured in Germany and will be powered by a Corvette 6.2-liter V8 engine that develops 437 bhp for the GT and 647 bhp for the GTS. Furthermore, it boasts handmade aluminum-hybrid bodies, German carpets and leather hides and 4-pot Porsche brake calipers with vented discs.

The car weighs 1,025 kg and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in no less than 3.3 seconds. It will be produced under a strategic alliance with Gullwing GmbH in Heyda, Germany, AC said in a statement for the press.

"Every year approximately 1,500 copies of the cars AC built in the 1960s are sold in America," says AC's Chairman Alan Lubinsky. "Why would anyone buy a replica when they can own an authentic AC roadster that is lighter and better and has been engineered and built to such demanding standards?"

"AC is one of the most admired and respected marques in the world," stated Juergen Mohr, CEO of Gullwing GmbH. "Their sports cars ignited a passion that still burns inside enthusiasts today. For over a century, the company has built cars with superb engineering, old world craftsmanship and classic designs. We feel extremely honoured that we can now be part of the future of the brand."

AC has quite enthusiastic plans when it comes to the new model, as the company plans to establish a large dealership network across Europe to expand the coverage of the MkVI.
