So you're in the market for an all-new full-size pickup truck, but you're not into the F-150, Silverado, Ram, or Titan? Good news! The 2016 GMC Sierra in Elevation Edition guise might be the right truck for you with its Sith Lord looks. On sale from the first quarter of 2016, the Elevation packs lost of goodies.
Based on the normal Sierra, the Elevation Edition is GMC's most menacing visual pack for the full-size workhorse. Just as the Sierra 1500, the goodies list starts with the signature GMC LED lighting, projector-beam headlamps, and the 2016 model year redesigned front end. Only available as a double cab, the Elevation Edition adds 20-inch black-painted aluminum wheels, unique badging, body-color bumpers, moldings, handles, mirror caps, and a similarly black grille surround for extra visual drama.
Duncan Aldred, US vice president of the GMC brand, notes: “The Sierra Elevation Edition offers a boldly styled pickup for customers who want a truck that looks as good as it performs." Speaking of performance, standard oomph comes in the form of a 4.3-liter V6 motor with 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft (413 Nm) of torque. Highway fuel economy is 24 mpg (9.8 l/100 km) for this naturally aspirated six-cylinder unit.
If you need more punch, a 355 horsepower 5.3-liter V8 is available, offering a trailering capacity of up to 9,400 pounds (4,263 kg). Four-wheel drive is optional, yet the Eaton locking rear differential comes as standard even on the two-wheel drive GMC Sierra Elevation Edition. Customers can up the ante with all-terrain tires, a Rear Vision camera system, specialized trailering equipment, and XM Radio.
While on the subject of radio, you might want to know that this feature comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that also offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot, keyless entry, remote locking tailgate, heated mirrors, a 110-volt AC outlet, and black recovery hooks complete the picture. No words on pricing right now, but do expect a starting MSRP of $35,000.
