2011 BMW 1 and 3 Series: 3 and 4 Cylinder Engine List
These days, news have surfaced that the German manufacturer will begin fitting the vehicles with 3-cylinder and 4-cylinder engines for the future 1 and 3 Series line-up. According to Auto Motor und Sport, this type of engine will be featured on entry level and smaller hybrid vehicles.
The engines and list of vehicles they will be fitted on was detailed by the source via bmwblog.com. We list it below, but we remind you that this list is yet unconfirmed.
- 116i/316i - 1.35 liters I3, 122hk/190Nm
- 118i/318i - 1.35 liters I3, 150hk/220Nm
- 120i/320i - 1.35 liters I3, 180hk/260Nm
- 123i/323i - 1.80 liters I4, 204hk/300Nm
- 125i/325i - 1.80 liters I4, 240hk/350Nm
The next 1 Series will also use the phase two Efficient Dynamics. The system is said to include an integrated starter generator, a pre-heating circuit for the engine, start-stop for the automatic transmissions, a lithium-ion storage cell and a smaller starter battery. Power output from the engines is expected to range from 105 to 326 horsepower.
BMW fans will still have the chance to benefit from the bigger, more powerful engines. The new emission laws and the search for environmentally friendly engines does not mean BMW will give up on its performance engines, like the twin turbo six cylinder or the V8.
