We get to see quite a lot of motorcycles which get a new life after being involved in a crash... and this usually means that they really mean a lot to their owners, who aren't that willing to let them go to a scrapeyard and selling what's left in one piece as spare parts. And that's the story of Belgian rider Andy Gerooms and his crashed Ducati Sport 1000.
Bent forks and front wheel, frame broken beyond repair, wrecked handles and front end, that's how the bike looked like after a sever crash Andy got involved in. Yet the remaining fully-working engine and Zard titanium exhausts were all Andy needed to start building a new bike.
Sporting a new Paul Smart frame and custom tank, the new Ducati came back to life. A deep gloss black powder coating paint covered the frame and a hand-made custom seat with Motokouture leatherwork add to the unique character of the Ducati Sport 1000.
Marchesini wheels and rear caliper came from a donor 999, while a 998 provided the front one together with the rotor. A carbon fiber Ducati S4R fender was added, while the fornt end was completed with Motowheels headlight unit, Oberon mirror and Speedymoto clip-on handles.
Just like anyone would have expected, the dry clutch of a Ducati screams for an open cover to show off through. The paint job was mad in-house and the Zard exhausts have been mounted once more, to roar and ride in greater style. So that's what 4 months of dedication and work look like, and we hope Andy will not have to start over too soon.
