The Circuit of the Americas reserved no surprises for Toyota Racing Team, which managed to achieve the second place this weekend near Austin, Texas.
The #8 TS030 Hybrid got strong performance on the same set of tires over two stints, which, combined with quick pit stops, put the team on second place, crossing the finish line just 23.617 seconds behind the winner.

“It was a good race for us. We didn’t expect to be as close to the Audis as we were so we can be proud of how we performed.” Toyota race driver Anthony Davidson said. “We were quite brave with our strategy by double-stinting the tyres from the beginning and this paid off. I just did one stint as I have not had a lot of track time this weekend on a new track for me. It was quite tough at the beginning but that was to be expected considering I didn’t do qualifying and we didn’t get any dry running on Friday. It was nice to be in a fight for victory, even if we didn’t quite get the result we ultimately wanted.”

The next race in the World Endurance Championship will bring the team home, to compete in the Six Hours of Fuji on 20 October. Here, Toyota will reintroduce the #7 TS030 of Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima.
