The title of “everyday supercar” can’t stress the importance of the concept enough, so Ferrari decided to give this another name, the 458 Italia. Not too long ago, it would’ve been impossible for a vehicle to juggle with performance and usability in the way the Ferrari 458 does. If you exaggerate with the time spent on the track and you get exhausted, give the keys to your girlfriend and ask her to take you home, there’s nothing to be afraid of. We can’t be held responsible accidents caused by throttle-lovers though.
As it’s already become obvious, this overall experience is also the best part of the Ferrari 458 Italia. Alas, we must mention its worst part here and now, because the two are somehow connected.
The 458 Italia relies on the F1-inspired electronics integration for just about anything you ask it to do and it’s amazing how organic this piece of machinery feels. However, the handling setup is a tad too biased towards oversteer and while this is just fine in the dry, it can bring serious issues when rain starts falling.
Don’t worry though, we’ve come up with a solution. Now that Schumacher is retired for good, you can simply give him a call whenever there’s water on the road. Driving in the rain was one of his favorite things in F1, so he probably won’t mind chauffeuring you around.
If you’re the kind that falls in love easily, the choir hidden within the triple tailpipe setup at the back of the car will seduce you on the spot. And if you want to take your dearly beloved 458, maybe along with your female companion, on a longer journey, you’ll appreciate the stowage capacity.
By the way, before you plan your trip, make sure you have at least $230.000 laying around, so you can get the car. For Europeans, that will be EUR175,000 with the price including 19 percent VAT.
We're asking the Ferrari 458 Italia not to take this an offense, but it’s actually got a huge issue. This is called the
Ferrari 458 Spider. Just like in the case of the
McLaren MP4-12C Spider, we see no reason for which you shouldn’t chose the open-top version over the coupe.
