The second generation of the Eurovans appeared on the market in 2002, and the Peugeot 807 was part of the deal, alongside Citroen's C8 and the Italians' Fiat Ulysses and Lancia Phaedra.

Beating Renault at its own game, where it ruled the market with the Espace, was difficult, but the alliance between PSA (Peugeot-Citroen) and Fiat (Fiat-Lancia) appeared to be working. Still, after this second generation, the two manufacturers had to drop the ball. The MPV market was too small, and the SUV segment was rising. But still, Peugeot built the 807 until 2014, with a facelifted version in 2008 when it had to switch to the Euro 5 emission standards.

The rounded shapes of the 807 followed the new trend of new-edge design that was on the rise, focusing on sharp edges and curved lines, especially on the headlights. Between them, the automaker installed a grille with a horizontal slat that supported the carmaker's badge. From its profile, the 807 showed its sloped front side that started with a steep and short hood and continued by a long windshield. Occupants could access the cabin by using the front-hinged front doors and the wide sliding ones. In the rear, the slim and very tall taillights flanked the tailgate.

Inside, Peugeot installed three rows of seats, with an option for up to seven seats. Apart from the front seats, all other places could slide, recline, or be removed. The carmaker didn't offer flat-folding seats since it considered that it wasn't a great idea for this kind of vehicle. But thought that placing the instrument cluster in the dashboard's center was brilliant since it made switching production from RHD to LHD easier.

The two partners installed some common and some different engines under the hood, with Citroen-Peugeot and Fiat-sourced powerplants. The 807 was available with up to ten engine versions, with either manual or automatic transmissions.
