autoevolution's American Month

We have to admit, we’ve been dragging this long enough. It’s been more than a year now since we’ve started our monthly coverage of all the great things in the automotive and related industries, and so far we’ve kind of ignored one of the most car and motorcycle hungry (and crazy) markets in the world: North America.

For all intents and purposes, America is one of the regions that shaped the industry the most. Although the automobile was not exactly born there, it was there where mass production for these mechanical wonders was first established, and once that got rolling, there was no stopping the flood of companies wanting to make such things.

Over the years, the American industry has grown into something of a behemoth, spreading far and wide from the confines of the continent. Great and unique things and people like Harleys and muscle cars, hot rods and pickup trucks, Carroll Shelby or Zora Arkus-Duntov, all have American ties and have made the country great.

As said, so far we’ve steered clear of diving deep into the wonderful world of American engineering. But not anymore, as this September (an emotional one at that) is American Month here on autoevolution, a celebration of all things USA, from the bland production cars of today and yesteryear to the most insane custom builds on two and four (and at times even more or less) wheels.
