The NHTSA issue the recall campaign number 12V329000 concerning some 268 electric motorcycles manufactured by Zero.
According to the safety agency's report, certain 2011 and 2012 Zero S and DS motorcycles my have a defective front caliper mounting bolt. The said bolt is susceptible to corrosion and may, under certain circumstances, crack or fracture.
This could in turn, lead to the caliper coming loose and possibly stop the wheel from turning, increasing the chance of a severe crash, with very bad consequences on rider's health and potentially causing high property damage.
Zero Motorcycles will notify dealers and owners and the recalling is scheduled to start these days, in mid-August. The front brake calipers will be replaced free of charge. Owners may get in contact with Zero calling 1-888-841-8085 or paying a visit to their dealers and ask for directions.
