So far, 667 motorcycles are expected to receive a controller firmware fix and they are 2012-13 XU, S, DS models and 2013 FX two-wheelers.

Quoting Richard Kenton, Director of Customer Service at Zero, the NHTSA announces that in some cases, the controller may shut off the power to the motor. A stopped motor during riding increases the risk of a crash and could result in injuries and property damage.

UK's Sevcom Ltd. is the supplier of the controller used in these bikes, Zero mentions. The recall is due to start in mid-January, and no accidents or injuries related to this issue have been recorded.
