Zero Motorcycles Recall Bikes on Safety Grounds

Zero Motorcycles has announced the recall of 315 of its bikes, in order to fix an issue which can cause its electric motor to suddenly lose power. Apparently, those bikes affected by the problem have motor encoder position signals which may move over time, thus causing the problem.

The loss of power is sudden and unexpected, leaving the rider totally helpless, if, say, at the time, he or she was carrying out an overtaking maneuver, thus exponentially increasing the risk of crashing. According to the official statement, some 315 S and DS bikes are affected, yet they will be reprogrammed free of charge by Zero.

This is not the first time Zero has been forced to recall its bikes, having previously encountered issues with throttles staying stuck wide open, or the lack of braking power, due to the brake pad not sitting correctly in the caliper, due to a faulty bracket.
