Zero Emission Reloaded: Renault and ALD Automotive Join Forces

This the second time today when we're announcing a partnership for an electric vehicle between Renault and another company around the world. This time, the French manufacturer joined forces with ALD Automotive, a major international player in financing and vehicle fleet management, who has expressed interest in Renault's electric projects.

The two companies will work together on the promotion of electric vehicles, with ALD supporting Renault in 2011 when the manufacturer will officially debut its first electric model.

“ALD Automotive’s deep commitment to sustainable development, enabling us to bring the management of corporate vehicle fleets towards the management of completely environmentally friendly vehicles," Gianluca Soma, chief executive of ALD Automotive, said.

Renault promised a complete range of electric vehicles in 2011, with some of the models likely to be showcased this year at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Unfortunately, more details are yet to be released but the French manufacturer promises a significant reduction in CO2 emissions.

"The features of electric vehicles meet companies specific needs in terms of their cost of use and their environmental friendliness”,
emphasises Uwe Hochgeschurtz, Renault’s Company Division director. “With ALD Automotive today, we are putting in place the conditions to make the real ecological and economic breakthrough that we are aiming for under the Renault eco2 banner.”

As for the zero emission program, Renault-Nissan formed strategic alliances all around the world, in both Europe and the United States, in order to be sure its electric vehicle will be indeed a major market hit. And just to give you an idea on Renault's optimistic plans, the company "is aiming for leadership in the zero emissions vehicle sector".
