Car tires are expensive in some cases, but Dubai-based Z Tyre managed to set a world record with their set. The company has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the “most expensive set of car tires.” How did they achieve this?
Easy: by commissioning Italian artisan jewelers from Italy to apply diamonds to the tires, as well as a 24-karat gold leaf. Yes, you read that right, they placed gold and diamonds on a car tire.
The first and only set of tires of this kind have been sold at auction, where it fetched $600,000. Fortunately, the company from Dubai will not use the money to round up its profit, but will donate them to charity.
Z Tyres has chosen the Zenises Foundation for the donation. Employees of the mentioned foundation work on ways to improve access to education across the world, and mainly focus on educating children in under-developed countries.
Z Tyres selected the same artisans that worked on the new presidential palace in Abu Dhabi. This way, they were sure to find experienced people in working with gold, and familiarized to the idea of eccentric customers.
At this point, you probably realize these tires were just a big and expensive PR stunt. Nobody needs $600,000 tires with diamonds and gold. The added elements would probably detach from the tires once the presumed vehicle starts driving. However, we do see another opportunity for a record here - “world’s most expensive flat tire.”
It will be easy to achieve, as well, as the driver will just have to drive merrily on regular back roads in Europe. At the same time, the committee at Guinness World Records could be on call, as the car’s miles could be counted and develop a new record “most miles driven with the world’s most expensive tire set.”
