Yvan Muller Tests Chevrolet Cruze for the First Time, in Valencia

Yvan Muller finally got to test his brand new car for the 2010 FIA World Touring Car campaign, none other than the Chevrolet Cruze he signed to compete on a few months ago. With Italian Nicola Larini announcing his departure from the championship following the 2009 season finale, the team found him a perfect replacement in the person of 2008 FIA WTCC champion and 2009 runner-up Yvan Muller.

The Frenchman competed the last 4 years in the FIA WTCC on Seat Leons (either petrol or diesel), so his outing on the Ricard Tormo circuit today was the first time he actually got to race a different car in the series.

I am still discovering the Cruze but can already tell it is a car with an excellent basis and a good potential for further growth. The team looks extremely professional and I am very pleased with the way we are working here in Valencia,” said Muller after his first few laps with the new Cruze.

However, Muller was not alone in Valencia, but joined by one of his new teammates for the new season, Robert Huff. This way, the two exchanged thoughts on the team's car for next season, which both seem to consider quite competitive.

Chevrolet will likely become one of the teams that will challenge for the title this season, as the other two championship big guns BMW and SEAT have both cut down on their FIA WTCC operations in the off-season. The German manufacturer will only field two cars throughout the 2010 campaign, while SEAT are also to announce fewer cars for this year.
