"That's mad, cars don't really sound like this anymore," the YouTuber says, struggling to talk over the sound of the V8. Shmee150 is looking to create a kind of car museum back at home, all while making interesting content from America during what's looking like another challenging year.
As the YouTuber admits, he was supposed to have a GT500 already. Back in 2019, during his trip to America, he was invited to participate in the media launch of the car in Las Vegas. The plan was to take delivery of one last spring, tour it around the country, and then ship it back to the UK, where he would have a trio of cool Fords.
Shmee150 is interesting as a Shelby customer partly because he's got 2.2 million subscribers and is planning to have one of these large muscle cars in Britain. Also, in 2016, he became one of just 500 people to be approved for the Ford GT supercar.
"The bang/buck is what made me crazy about this in the first place," he says after letting us sample the raw performance. Of course, his collection includes a number of exotics. He's got the rare McLaren Senna and a Porsche Taycan built to special order. There are also a few Mercs, such as the SLS AMG, the G63, and the new AMG GT R Roadster.
There are a few things getting in the way of the purchase. One of them is the current state of things, making travel a bit more difficult. Also, while the Shelby GT500 is a performance bargain at around $100,000, this also means it's more cheaply made in places, and outside of the carbon fiber pack, there's not a lot of room for customization (with Ford options).
