Ever since rapper Flo Rida wrapped his Bugatti Veyron in gold it felt like bad taste and opulence can’t really get more abominable than that. But looking at how this golden electric toy car is actually messing around with children’s innocence makes us reconsider our position.
It’s been less than a week since we asked you guys whether you think car companies are using power wheels to turn children into lifelong customers, but this golden-plated toy car is simply taking things to a whole new level. This little monstrosity could rather be used by jewel makers, than auto manufacturers.

The two-seater electric roadster actually has a running gear and a 48 Volt CPU controlled motors. Rack & pinion steering, real alloy wheels with road tires, opening doors with real handles, double safety catch with locks, high quality leather interior and several other features a real car has are also included in the "package". In fact it’s the luxury car for kids, if you want.

Powered by rechargeable batteries which last up to 48 hours, the toy car is able to speed up to 15 mph and is currently for sale in Selfridges’ Oxford Street store in London. Dubbed Atom Car, this particular gold-plated electric car for children costs £29,995 ($ 46,852) and you can even get it with personalized number plates.

Since we’re not trolling anybody here, we find ourselves indebted to also mention that the company is making regular toy cars as well. In fact, the ones that are without gold and other such opulent amenities actually look quite nice. But they had to put gold on them, didn’t they?
