There are hardcore off-grid 4x4 enthusiasts and there are people who love the idea of overlanding but do not have a dedicated vehicle for such adventures. One of the cheapest solutions for the latter problem is the beloved pop-up roof accessory. You just install it, go off the beaten path, sleep up top and then return. Now there are certain nuances – some rooftops are simple, some are inexpensive, some have even more features than a regular camper. And one is light, as in SuperLite.
The specialists over at Go Fast Campers apparently set out to find the answer to a question we never imagined asking: “just how light-weight and minimalist can you make a hardshell rooftop tent?” It turns out they made it just 80 pounds (36 kg) heavy and simple enough to be installed on a regular surfboard roof storage system in just three minutes.

There is an ultra-aerodynamic profile too and height varies between four and six inches, depending on the bedding solution. On the other hand, the latter stays large enough to accommodate two adults and a kid or pet thanks to a 50 by 90-inch (127 by 228 cm) sleeping area.

It turns out it can even take care of racing drivers as the company bought its own racing truck during the development phase and put the SuperLite through the ultimate test – the NORRA Mexican 1000. We can imagine the envy of other pilots that did not have such a stylish resting area right on top of their work spot.

Anyways, now the SuperLite is gearing up for general audience availability. The company is accepting pre-orders and first deliveries are scheduled starting this November. It is not going to be cheap, though, kicking off at $1,299. You can also add a telescopic ladder for another $100 or a Crash Pad Mattress for $279.

You do get a 44-inch (112 cm) interior height, panorama windows on three sides along with the respect of everyone at the camping site when you are done pulling the corner stays, all zipped-up and ready to head home in mere seconds. They will be even more impressed if you do that on a brand-new lemon-yellow Bronco, right?
