The head of Lamborghini's CEO is probably filled with all sorts of awesome ideas, most of them surrounding the Urus that has not yet been approved for production. However, we'd much rather see the Sant'Agata brand undiluted and pure. Instead of the SUV, our fictional half a million bucks would go towards the Asterion LPI 910-4.
It's not quite a supercar, more like a super-GT. Considering how many people loved the 350 GTV from over 50 years, we think it's the right direction to be going in, even though SUVs are so popular.
The Asterion concept was also Lamborghini's first and only attempt at combining the mighty 610 horsepower 5.2-liter V10 from the Huracan with electric motors. The result is a total of 910 hybrid ponies and 0 to 100 km/h in about 3 seconds. Of course, every time we mention Lamborghini and electric cars, the mind naturally wonders towards toys. Which means we can make a pleasant transition into our actual story, the one about an Asterion scale model.
It's made by a Japanese company called MR Collection, which we rather like. Instead of focusing on the past, which is what everybody does in the model business, they are the first to assemble quality scale replicas of brand new Ferraris and Lamborghinis.
This one is made in 1:18 scale and isn't yet available for delivery, which should happen in the next few weeks. Regardless, we think we are looking at something worth about at least €200.
The cool thing is that while the concept is one car with one color, you can have the scale model in Nero Nemesis, Bianco Icarus, Rosso Efesto or Verde Mantis.
If you're feeling generous with your cash and really love the Asterion, a 1:12 scale sculpture of the car also exists.
It costs €2,500 (sold out for now), so about as much as a second-hand car or maybe a new tire for an Aventador. However, we think it's positively stunning to look at. The sculpture is placed on a base made of shiny carbon fiber and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed in original by the Head of the Centro Stile Lamborghini, Filippo Perini.
